Sheikh Zayed's historic visit to Sudan

His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God have mercy on him, visited Sudan for the first time on an official visit on February 20, 1972, about two and a half months after the establishment of the UAE Union, where he visited all the states of Sudan and received official and popular receptions.

Then Sudanese President Jaafar Muhammad Nimeiri, may God have mercy on him, visited the UAE as the first president of state to visit the UAE, and that was on April 23, 1972, two months after Sheikh Zayed's visit to Sudan, accompanied by a large official delegation of ministers and officials.


And now, 50 years have passed since Sheikh Zayed's visit to Sudan, and the relationship of the UAE and Sudan is still strong, interconnected, and great cooperation, and the UAE supports Sudan and the Sudanese people with strength and love, and investment and trade exchange have grown.

World Expo is a large international exhibition designed to showcase achievements of nations. These exhibitions vary in character and are held in different parts of the world at a specific site for a period of time, ranging usually from three to six months. UAE, Dubai, won the organization of the exhibition in 2013, after Dubai outperformed Sao Paulo in Brazil, Yekaterinburg, Russia, and Izmir, Turkey, as it obtained the support of 116 of the 164 voting members of the Bureau in a final run-off against Yekaterinburg.
