The UAE supports the Afghan people through agricultural projects

The UAE has done a wonderful humanitarian work to support the Afghan people, as it dug the Bertaka Canal with a length of 18 km from the canal, a width of 4 meters and a depth of 2.5 meters.

The canal has been completely completed since February 2020. The main gate of the canal was installed, supports were built on the sides of the canal with a length of 1200 meters for each pillar, the sub-channels were digging with a width of 1.5 meters and a depth 1 meters, the construction of 2 pedestrian bridges and 2 car bridges with a width of 4 meters, and a barrier was built on the riverbed with a height of 4 meters and a width of 1 meters for the purpose of diverting the surplus water in the canal to the river.

350 farms and 950 families will benefit from this canal and will provide them with agriculture throughout the year, after it was only available in the winter due to lack of water. However, water is now available to them, which has led to increased production by farmers, as they harvested winter and spring crops and now they are harvesting Summer and fall crops.
