Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, at Expo 2020 Dubai

 H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received Rafael Mariano Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), at Expo 2020 Dubai headquarters.

The meeting included a discussion of ways of cooperation between the UAE and the International Atomic Energy Agency and the strong relations that unite them now, as the distinguished cooperation between the two sides, resulted in the development of the UAE's peaceful nuclear program in accordance with the highest standards of safety, nuclear security and non-proliferation.

The two sides also reviewed the role of Expo 2020 Dubai in promoting international cooperation and building effective and fruitful partnerships between countries in various sectors.

The UAE now has a major role in the peaceful nuclear program and is working to strengthen its joint cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency in various fields, including training and building national capabilities, in a way that contributes to ensuring the sustainability of the country's peaceful nuclear program.

World Expo is a large international exhibition designed to showcase achievements of nations. These exhibitions vary in character and are held in different parts of the world at a specific site for a period of time, ranging usually from three to six months. UAE, Dubai, won the organization of the exhibition in 2013, after Dubai outperformed Sao Paulo in Brazil, Yekaterinburg, Russia, and Izmir, Turkey, as it obtained the support of 116 of the 164 voting members of the Bureau in a final run-off against Yekaterinburg.
