UAE and its role at COP26 and climate change issue

An important and distinguished participation from the UAE in COP26, as it ratified with more than 90 countries the declaration of the Glasgow leaders on forests and land use, which obligates countries to cooperate and work collectively to stop forest loss, rehabilitation and land degradation by 2030, and stimulate global movement towards sustainable development.

The UAE pays great attention to the issue of climate change and plans in all ways and in all fields to confront it. In the context of combating land degradation, the UAE is promoting its blue carbon ecosystems - coastal plants such as mangrove forests, salt marshes and seagrass meadows, and the country is proactively planting mangroves that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, develop natural carbon stocks and enhance Environmental resilience In addition, mangroves provide environmental services that help reduce the impact of climate change and provide natural habitats to enhance biodiversity.

The UAE pledged to expand the area of ​​mangrove forests by planting 30 million mangrove trees by 2030.


Drones have also been used to map agricultural areas, and spread tree seeds to reduce sand encroachment. These technologies have helped disseminate 6 million sage tree seeds and 250,000 Ghaf seeds in 25 locations nationwide.
