The visit of the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union to UAE

General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, received the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, who visited the country recently, to enhance mutual participation and cooperation in bilateral as well as regional and global issues.

While in UAE, he participated in the 2021 World Policy Conference as one of the main speakers.


Josep Borrell said during the visit: "UAE is an important partner in the Gulf region, and we have a common interest in maintaining the security and stability of this region and our common neighborhood. Therefore, the European Union would like to continue our regular political dialogue on the challenges we face in the region, in addition to continuing our regular dialogue on human rights. "

He also welcomed UAE's constructive policy, particularly on Afghanistan, and briefed Emirati officials on his efforts as coordinator of the Iran nuclear deal.

World Expo is a large international exhibition designed to showcase achievements of nations. These exhibitions vary in character and are held in different parts of the world at a specific site for a period of time, ranging usually from three to six months. UAE, Dubai, won the organization of the exhibition in 2013, after Dubai outperformed Sao Paulo in Brazil, Yekaterinburg, Russia, and Izmir, Turkey, as it obtained the support of 116 of the 164 voting members of the Bureau in a final run-off against Yekaterinburg.
